high park

Sunnies: H&M // Bag: Joe Fresh // Dress / romper & Shoes: Zara

Happy hump day! To all my fellow Canadians, I hope you had a nice long weekend. It's always such a struggle getting back into the groove of things after a beautiful long weekend. So until next weekend rolls around, I'll be dreaming of parks and fro-yo.

We decided to stay in the city and make the most of it, exploring news spots each day. (You can follow my Instagram / Snapchat account for more behind the scenes @curatedbyamy) On Saturday we ventured out for some frozen yogurt followed by a visit to High Park. I was really hoping that the cherry blossoms were in bloom but unfortunately due to the weather, they won't be making their appearance this year. Nonetheless, there were lots of  other pretty blossoms near Grenadier Pond as well as lots of flowers throughout the park.

I also have to mention that this "dress" that I am wearing is actually a romper / dress. I didn't even know these existed until I picked up what I thought to be a top and discovered built-in shorts underneath. Zara currently has a few different styles of this nature, and I love how you can throw it on and not have to worry about exposing yourself.... Although my fiance did ask whether I plan to put on pants before leaving the house. lol. Not sure if strangers think the same thing but I think its perfect for those hot summer days.

How to Fake a Summer Glow

You know what they say... fake it til' you make it.

Here is my recipe for achieveing that sunkissed glow:

If you're anything like me, perhaps you feel as though you've been hibernating under a rock for the last 6 months. With Short / dress / skirt (all of the above) season quickly approaching, I was a little hesitant to bare my legs to the world. Nevermind the whole six months thing, it looks like my legs haven't seen the light of day in YEARS.

The Hoola Bronzer has always been a staple in my makeup bag. As someone with fair skin, I always incorporate a bronzer into my makeup routine to make myself look a little more "alive." If you've been following my blog, you know how important it is for me to apply product with a quality brush. I absolutely love the Hoola Bronzing and Contouring Brush, it is so incredibly soft and blends the product perfectly for contouring. (Um, can we also just say that the bamboo handle is well,  adorable.)

So you can imagine my surprise when the Hoola Dew Bronzer came out - it's basically the trusted and true Hoola Bronzer in liquid form. It applies very smoothly and has a matte finish. I apply it right over top my foundation for a natural, sunkissed glow. You can even mix this product with your foundation for a little extra colour.

And lastly, the Hoola Zero Tanlines Body Bronzer.  This is my secret weapon. The beauty of this product is that you can use it for a night out or special occasion, and rinse it away in the shower that evening. It doesn't turn you orange, or streak and you don't have to worry of it coming off on your clothing. (I have worn a white skirt all day without any issues) It's SO easy to apply and works better than anything that I have ever tried.

So that's it! My routine for achieving that summer glow without actually subjecting your skin to harmful UV rays.

Have any of you tried these products? Any tips yourself?

Blazer: Zara // Culottes: Zara // Tank: Aritzia // Bag: Zara // Sunnies: Aldo // Shoes: Zara (old)

I'm usually one to jump on board with the latest trends, but it sure wasn't the case with culottes. When they first made their resurgence, I was a little confused... Are they pants? Long shorts? Crops? I couldn't quite wrap my head around them. I waited for the trend to die down but alas! Here we are a few years later with the trend still going strong, andddd here I am wearing them.

I'm a huge fan of skinny jeans and anything looser than the most "slim" style is a no-go for me. No reason other than I find them to be unflattering on my body. Perhaps it was due to my boredom of wearing skin-tight jeans for the last how many years but I decided to pull a pair of culottes during a recent trip to Zara.

The results are in... Once I had them on, I didn't want to take them off. They felt like oversized pajamas, and even had an elastic waist! How did I take years to try these bad boys on? They are a-mazing. Perhaps I am shielded by the pure comfort factor, but I am not ashamed to say that I am now a converted culotte lover. (And a little mad at myself for not jumping on this bandwagon sooner)

What do you guys think? Do you own a pair? Pairs? Love 'em? Hate 'em? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below <3

With the warmer weather on the horizon, I'm gravitating towards all things light and airy. I absolutely adore this dress I picked up from Joe Fresh. It's such a great summer staple and all for the cost of $49! I plan to have this dress on heavy rotation throughout Spring/Summer due to its versatility of being able to dress it up or down.

Whenever I make a purchase,  no matter how large or small, I constantly struggle with finding the right size. There has been more than a handful of times where I have ripped off the tags only to realize I should have sized up or down. I've been trying to make a more conscious effort of focusing on what fits me, rather than what the tag says. I was debating whether to size up or down on this dress as I found that it could go both ways. I ultimately decided to go with my regular size as I find that it fits quite TTS.

With warmer weather on the horizon, I've been on the hunt for products that aid in achieving a light, glowing complexion for Spring/Summer.

You can imagine my excitement when I received some of tarte's Rainforest of the Sea products to try out. First off, how adorable is the packaging? It's definitely 'gram worthy in and of itself.  The entire collection is formulated with tarte's Rainforest of the Sea complex, a hypoallergenic formula that helps restore and brighten skin for a soft, radiant finish. All of their products are also formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate and gluten aka none of that junk!

I like to keep my makeup fairly natural looking. My daily look consists of a light foundation, bronzer, blush, mascara, and a light lip colour. (This daily look transforms into an evening look with some eyeshadow, liner, and a bold lipstick.)

I'm always hesitant to purchase eyeshadow palettes as most tend to have at least one colour that I would never wear. I love how the Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Palette are all wearable, everyday shades. For years the Naked Palette had been my go-to, but now its a toss up... I'm thinking I'll just rotate. They are super pigmented, creamy, blendable, non creasing, and don't have a lot of fall out.

If you talk to any of my friends, they all know my struggle with eyeliner making its way up to my brow bone. I'm not quite sure if its the shape of my eye, but it deters me from wearing it on the regular.  I was blown away with the Rainforest of the Sea So Fine Micro Liner - it magically never strayed and loved how fine the tip was - it made for a super easy application.

In order to achieve glowing skin, I'm all about strobing. I love placing highlighter on my cheekbones, brow bone, nose, cupids bow, and chin. The Rainforest of the Sea Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette is in a word, perfection. (TBH, I have worn it every single day since I got it.) The colours are absolutely beautiful, it's not too shimmery and it gives the face that natural glow. The Rainforest of the Sea Highlighter Brush is the perfect compliment to it - its so light and airy and the smaller brush on the opposite side is perfect for highlighting the nose, cupids bow and brow bone.

I have very dry skin, and it seems that no matter how much I hydrate, matte lipsticks tend to look quite "chalky" on my lips. These lipsticks are matte, but don't dry your lips out like many other brands I have tried. They are soft, hydrating, and creamy, with just a hint of shine. I love applying the  Rainforest of the Sea Lipsaver Treatment Primer before I apply the lipstick as a "primer" to smooth the lips.

Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue lip balms are my new go-to's - I absolutely ADORE them! As someone that rocks a natural look on the regular, I couldn't ask for a better lip product. They are moisturizing, add just a hint of colour, and aren't sticky! (does anyone else have a problem with your hair getting stuck to your lips, or perhaps the odd bug with those "sticky" ones? I hope I am not alone on this) I highly recommend these beauties.

Um, how cute is this makeup bag? It makes me smile every time I wake up in the morning.

For me, brushes make or break my MU look. I love to invest in high quality brushes that stand the test of time. These brushes from taste's Rainforest collection not only do the job, but are adorable at the same time.

No matter how much I moisturize my face, I tend to always have dry patches. Needless to say, I was really excited to try this foundation out. Because its water-based, its extremely hydrating and gives such a natural finish. It doesn't cake where my dry spots are, and its build-able depending on the coverage you're going for. As someone that suffers with dry skin (even in the warmer months!) this foundation was a life-changing discovery.

My face is very sensitive, so I have to be careful on what products I use. This cleansing wash is gentle  enough for my face but removes makeup easily.

Outfit: c/o Ever New

I'm always on the lookout for new stores that offer stylish, quality pieces that don't break the bank. You can imagine my excitement when I discovered Ever New - a fast fashion and accessories brand founded in Melbourne, Australia, now available at the Toronto Eaton Centre. The brand features just what I was looking for - a feminine style, with a wide range of on-trend essentials.

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to style my own outfit.  When I visited the store, I was amazed at the selection (and quite frankly overwhelmed!) from all the different pieces. How could a girl choose? I wanted everything. As an ode to Spring, I decided to stick with a light colour palette consisting of white, nude, and light blue jeans.  I pulled a white everyday tank made of a super soft crepe, a lace detailed coat, skinny jeans, a white bag and white sandals to pull the look together.

For starters,  the white tank is my new go-to. It's made of a super soft crepe and double lined which is always a plus with white! In regards to the coat, I didn't want to take it off. It literally fits like it was made for me. Not to mention how adorable the lace detail in the back is - I'm so in love. And let's not forget to talk about the jeans. They are super stretchy, medium rise (aka don't cut into unwanted areas) and taper perfectly at the ankle. They  also had so many great bags to choose from too but I had my heart set on a white one. I was looking for a small handled bag but didn't want to spend a fortune on designer. Clearly this bag was meant to be.

And lastly! The shoes. I remember my first ever pair of white non-tennis-shoe-shoes as a kid. They were white leather flats and I had to BEG my mom for them. I remember my mom telling me that white shoes were "tacky" but I insisted that I wanted them. (Now that I think about it, I'm sure she was more concerned about keeping white shoes clean on a 7 year old girl) Needless to say, I won the battle and rocked my very first pair of white leather shoes.  Now that I am a "big kid", I am able to go white shoe crazy, and absolutely adore my new pair I picked up to pull this look together.
