black & white

Shoes: Geox

Its safe to say that my style has evolved throughout the years. I just did a major purge of my wardrobe and donated several (and by several I mean north of 10) garbage bags full of clothes that I simply don't wear anymore. In the past, I had never been one to give practicality much thought. I was guilty of impulse buys that would quickly end up in the back of my wardrobe never to be worn (or seen) again. I was constantly having that "I have nothing to wear" moment when really, I had tons of clothes, just wasn't strategic and practical with my purchases.

My sister and I always ask the same question when it comes to shopping "Do you love it?" Well now I have introduced a second question that will make or break the purchase "Is it versatile and practical?" When I was given the opportunity to select a pair of shoes from the Geox collection, I thought to myself, wow! This opportunity perfectly aligns with my new direction of shopping behaviour. I knew I wanted something practical, yet still on trend, and instantly fell in love with these babies that I'm wearing above. They also just so happen to pass my "Purchase Test." Do I love them? Yes! Are they versatile and practical? Well yes to that too! #nailedit

Needless to say, these shoes have quickly become a wardrobe staple of mine. I'm no spring chicken anymore (as much as I would like to believe it) and am starting to see the importance of selecting practical and comfortable footwear. They're also super breathable with their cutting edge technology, allowing natural temperature regulation as well as creating a micro-climate inside the shoe (aka heatwave friendly :)

This post was created in partnership with Geox. All opinions are my own.

flower crawl

Bag: Prada // Sunnies: H&M // Sandals: Forever 21 (old, love these!) // Shorts: H&M  (old, similar here)// Top: Zara // Watch: Christian Paul

I know it's a blogger cliche, but one of my favourite things to do is buy fresh flowers. There is something about them that instantly brightens my day. I usually stick with a lighter palette, but decided to step outside the box with brighter, more saturated tones.

I am totally head over heels for this top - it's loose fit is perfect for those hot summer days and the blue embroidery adds the perfect touch of detail. A go-to outside for those "flower crawls."

Hope you're all having a lovely week!

floral obsession

Shoes: c/o Ever New // Bag: c/o Ever New // Sunnies: c/o smartbuyglasses.com // Dress: Red Valentino (old, love this one) // Jacket: Zara

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! It was a scorcher in Toronto, but managed to beat the heat (thanks to a permanent glass of chilled wine in my hand.) It was a jam-packed weekend hanging out with friends, and Michael and I ended the weekend with date night at Colette Grande Cafe. Despite the atmosphere being absolutely stunning (I felt like I was instantly transported to Paris) the service was so on point and the food was exceptional. With this summer heat, all I want to do it wear shorts, dresses and skirts. When I'm not sure whether the weather is going to turn cooler, I always bring along a sweater or light summer jacket  with me.
I love how easy it is to throw on a floral dress and instantly feel pulled together. As I don't really consider myself a "girly girl," I added the pink moto jacket to break up the feminine nature of the dress and make the outfit "my own." I decided to add white shoes and a white bag to pull the look together.

white shirt dress

Dress: Zara // Sandals: c/o Le Chateau // Bag: Louis Vuitton Speedy 35 // Sunnies: c/o Smartbuyglasses.ca // Watch: c/o Christian Paul

I hope you all had a nice weekend! I spent the weekend catching up with friends, lounging poolside, and visiting my parents for a family BBQ. I wore this dress to the Sunday night BBQ, and think it was perfect for the occasion.

I'm also loving my new Le Chateau sandals. They're made of real leather and are extremely comfortable to walk in. I haven't worn my LV Speedy bag in a while so decided to bust it out too. Although I have had it for a while now, its one of those closet staples that I will have in my wardrobe forever. A classic!

floral romper

Romper: Topshop (similar here) // Sunnies: Topshop // Shoes: Banana Republic // Bag: Zara

My last outfit post featured an off-the-shoulder top, today its head-to-toe floral. I guess you could say I am trying to step outside my comfort zone. ACTUALLY, now that I say that, I am also stepping outside my comfort zone on snapchat! I've started talking to my phone (and yes, it was extremely awkward at first but I quickly got over it) USERNAME: CURATEDBYAMY.

Getting back to business -  I am proud to report that this romper is my first ever romper purchase. I like how loose and lightweight it is - perfect for those warmer days. Just like a dress, you can throw this on without giving your outfit much thought.

off the shoulder

Top: Zara // Jeans: Urban Outfitters // Shoes: Zara // Sunnies: H&M // Nailpolish: OPI Big Apple // Watch: Christian Paul // Bag: Zara // Bracelets: Hermes / The Peach Box

As someone who doesn't like showing a lot of skin, this off the shoulder top was a huge change for me. I love the trend but always thought that it was something I wouldn't necessarily rock myself. For example, the crop top is BIG right now but I still can't seem to bring myself around to wearing one. Don't get me wrong, I think that they can look great, I just find them a little too revealing for my personal style.

Needless to say, I love my new off the shoulder top. I think it shows just the right amount of skin for my comfort level, and can be balanced out with some midrise skinny jeans or a longer skirt.  I also love the frills on the shoulders, I think they add a soft feminine touch thats perfect for summer :)

I consider myself quite a modest dresser when it comes to most clothing items, but stray away with certain pieces like short cut offs or mini skirts. If I do choose to wear a short skirt or shorts, I always try to balance it out with wearing something more covering on the top half. I know everyone has different styles, but it's just the way I feel most comfortable.

With that said, there is a limit to the amount of "shortness" I find acceptable (for me personally). I was at a store the other day and tried on a pair of SHORT shorts. I literally felt like I was wearing a bathing suit (it wasn't good lol) I bought these jean shorts last year from H&M and still love 'em. They're super stretchy and are just the right length (aka they don't show your behind). I love pairing them with heels for a casual dinner out or flats for roaming around town. They are so versatile!

Whats your fave summer essential? Would love to hear in the comments below :)

high park

Sunnies: H&M // Bag: Joe Fresh // Dress / romper & Shoes: Zara

Happy hump day! To all my fellow Canadians, I hope you had a nice long weekend. It's always such a struggle getting back into the groove of things after a beautiful long weekend. So until next weekend rolls around, I'll be dreaming of parks and fro-yo.

We decided to stay in the city and make the most of it, exploring news spots each day. (You can follow my Instagram / Snapchat account for more behind the scenes @curatedbyamy) On Saturday we ventured out for some frozen yogurt followed by a visit to High Park. I was really hoping that the cherry blossoms were in bloom but unfortunately due to the weather, they won't be making their appearance this year. Nonetheless, there were lots of  other pretty blossoms near Grenadier Pond as well as lots of flowers throughout the park.

I also have to mention that this "dress" that I am wearing is actually a romper / dress. I didn't even know these existed until I picked up what I thought to be a top and discovered built-in shorts underneath. Zara currently has a few different styles of this nature, and I love how you can throw it on and not have to worry about exposing yourself.... Although my fiance did ask whether I plan to put on pants before leaving the house. lol. Not sure if strangers think the same thing but I think its perfect for those hot summer days.
