What's better than being ice cold? Receiving a personalized Grand Marnier box at your doorstep after a long (long) day, of course. I was so thrilled to get this package in the mail and start brainstorming new recipes that I could look forward to making after those "I need a drink" type days (aka most days).

I'm fully aware that the plastic pumpkins are already gracing us with their presence in storefront windows, the Starbuck's infamous pumpkin lattes are out, and yes, the first day of fall is in 4 days (not that I am counting or anything). But being the glass-is-half-full-lady that I am, I say just because summer is coming to an end doesn't mean the fun has to. Despite the changing of seasons,  I wanted to share with you one of my favourite summer cocktails that I'll be sipping well into the cooler months. There are so many different variations of this and can't wait to think up (and drink up) new creations.

I'm thinking drink umbrellas are necessary for my next masterpiece... I mean, who doesn't love a drink umbrella? If you're anything like me and are made to live in warmer climates (think LA), these summer-friendly cocktails should be on your "to-do" list. I find they lend somewhat of a coping mechanism for what we're soon to experience in the GREAT Canadian outdoors.

Summer isn't over yet (or I refuse to think so at least).

"Grand Grapefruit" Recipe:

Ingredients:
1 oz. Grand Marnier
2 oz. grapefruit juice
3 oz. soda water
3 small raspberries
1 sprig of mint

Build ingredients over ice in rocks glass, top with soda. Garnish with raspberries and mint (should not be muddled like in a mojito, but rather sit on top as a visual/aromatic feature) (to be extra fancy, you could rim the glass with sugar)

This post was created in partnership with Grand Marnier Canada. All opinions are my own.
