I went to the Drake General Store over the weekend to pick up some holiday gifts for my family and friends and was blown away by the selection of carefully curated items. Not only did I want everything in the store, but I was able to find presents that fit the personalities of ALL my family members. (This includes my Mom, Dad, Older Sister, Older Brother, Younger Sister, Younger Brother...  I have a big family!) Needless to say, it was the perfect one stop shop with the most lovely items one could imagine!

Head on over to my Instagram page for your chance to win a $250 gift card of your own to shop #dgsperfectpresents :) Contest closes Friday December 18th at 6 PM.

When Joelle from La Petite Noob approached me with the idea of doing a holiday shoot with  Toronto bloggers (& friends!) Gabriella, Kaylee, and Eleni, I was sold. Something about combining beautiful ladies (inside & out), tulle, cotton candy, champagne, jewels, and floral crowns just sang to me. From sips of champagne, cotton candy nibbles, and music, it was a day filled with lots of laughs and fun.

We would like to extend a big thanks to all the amazing local businesses for sponsoring this post; The Pastel Dress Party for making us feel angelic, Cherrypick for blinging us out, Fancy Pufs for making our shoot even sweeter, and FM floral for making us feel like princesses. And a special thanks to Raelene Giffin Photography - you captured the moments perfectly :)

HOLIDAY GIFT IDEAS: FOR THE BEAUTY LOVER

I can't believe we're already starting to think about Christmas and gift ideas already! How quickly time flies.  It seems as though, without fail, the stores are decked out in holiday-everything the day right after Halloween. I recently joked that I am going to be a Christmas tree for Halloween next year and come out earlier than the stores. MuhaHA!

Off topic (as per usual) - in keeping with the post - I've put together a few ideas for that beauty lover on your list. I'll give you a quick low down on why I selected each item:

HERE WE GO -

The Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick is a staple of mine - it's the perfect highlight to achieve that holiday glow but I also tend to wear this year round.

The ShuUemura eyelash curler is the best thing since sliced bread.

I'm all about an effortless lip these days, and MAC always has great sets of holiday lip glasses in an array of different colours.

The beauty blender pretty much does what its called - no streaks, just flawless skin.

The Naked 3 palette has been on my wish list for quite some time. I have the original Naked Palette, but would love to add this one to my collection (and pretty sure every other girl that doesn't own one would too)

The lip key chain! Ok so lets be honest, I feel like keychains are the types of things you receive as gifts and never would actually purchase for yourself but ACTUALLY appreciate and love when you get one. Make sense? Yes.

I have an addiction to Diptyque candles. They are simply the greatest.

Gold sparkly flats with lipstick incorporated on them? SOLD.

I'm a sucker for bright red nail polish (I recently was told my nails were so "festive" little did they know I wear the colour all year round) My favourite red is Essie's Lollipop.

The iPhone case is like SO cute.

The Chloe perfume is pretty much a staple for a lot of gals out there - if you haven't smelled it you should.

I'm not exactly in the market for a new snowboard but if you know someone that is AND a beauty lover, I'm pretty sure this takes the cake on THE PERFECT GIFT. I mean, how adorable is it?

And any beauty obsessive would appreciate a good set of fresh makeup brushes (and of course, limited edition.)

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara, is well, perfection in a tube.

And lastly! The Kate Spade makeup case is adorable. I mean, who doesn't like gold glitter?

So there we go. A few ideas to get that brain of yours turning. Whatcha think?

Faux leather leggings are a staple of mine, especially throughout the cooler months. I had been eyeing a $$$ pair for quite some time, but being the budget friendly shopper that I am, I was convinced that I could find something similar without the price tag. I was looking for a pair that were comfortable, slightly higher on the rise, and tapered at the ankle. I tried on various other inexpensive pairs but they were either 1) cut too low and dug into my hips 2) not very stretchy and 3) loose at the ankles. I was thrilled to come across this pair at Joe Fresh - not only are they super comfortable, they also hit at just the right point on my hips, and graze the my ankles for the slim fit I was looking for.

I hope you're all having a great start to the week! I had a busy weekend - catching up with friends & family, squeezing in some workouts, and speaking on a panel at Spark Sessions with the ever so lovely My Fash Avenue and The Prep Guy, moderated by the beautiful Jess Huchinson from Shine PR. It was truly a wonderful experience and loved every minute of it. To those that I met at the conference this weekend, it was so nice to meet you! You are all so beautiful and inspiring.

I received several compliments on my shoes at the session, so I decided to incorporate them into a post. For all those that share a similar kind of love / obsession for the Valentino studded pumps, these shoes are a great budget friendly alternative (they are also on sale!)

For the conference, I was wearing an all-black look but decided to put together a more casual look as the heels can easily be dressed up or down. I paired them with ripped jeans, a black turtleneck and blazer, as I'm all about simplicity these days.

Have a great days guys!

Waistcoat / Shorts / Boots: Zara / Nailpolish: OPI Big Apple Red

I picked up some fall staples thanks to Holt Renfrew Centre over the weekend to wear to last night's WMCFW Show that I'm  excited to share with you all.

If you've been following me along lately, you know that I am all about layers. When I went shopping, I thought strategically about key pieces that could be easily layered, as well as carried through well into the winter months. The first item on my wish list was a great waistcoat. It lends the perfect layering opportunity as you can wear it with long sleeves, shorts sleeves, tanks, sweaters... think pretty much possibilities x infinity.  I have fairly broad shoulders for my frame and prefer more organic, flowing pieces rather than structured. I was  excited to come across this one - it was just what I was looking for.

I was also on the hunt for a great pair of thigh-high boots. I came across these lovelies and instantly fell in love - they're quite slim fitting compared to all the other boots I have tried on and hit at just the right point on my leg.  Sold! I decided to finish the look off with some suede shorts. Shorts in fall? I'm not crazy (maybe slightly) but boots + layers + shorts = keepin' toasty.

I then hopped over to Trade Secrets to pick up some nail polish. Call me old fashion, but I'm a sucker for classic shades. I tend to stick with bright reds or dark purples. I know, how adventurous of me. My favourite go-to OPI colours are Big Apple Red and Lincoln Park After Dark (hello classics!) and was thrilled to find them in a cute little set of mini bottles that are travel-friendly.

My last stop was Raindrops. I have wanted a birdcage umbrella for what seems to be forever (seriously, like since seeing Blair and Serena's bubble umbrellas on GG) With the rainy one minute - sunny the next weather - I knew an umbrella would be the perfect investment piece for these weather vibes. In the past, I've always bought cheap umbrellas that have decided to break from the slight bit of wind. I went to Raindrops to purchase a quality umbrella and so glad I did. It's super cute and more importantly, functional.

Fall fashion is my absolute favourite and would love to continue this chat tonight as I co-host a fall fashion Twitter party with Holt Renfrew Centre at 7-8 p. #HRCFallChat

Two lucky people (GTA only) will win a $50 gift card to @shop_mboutqiue! The winners will be sent a direct message at the end of the chat. Would absolutely love for you to join!

leather x leather

Jacket: Joe Fresh (on sale!) / Sweater: Joe Fresh / Skort: Zara (old, similar here) / Shoes: Zara (Old, similar here) / Sunnies: Zara / Bag: Zara / Bracelet: Vintage (gifted by my mom :)

I'm not quite ready to say goodbye to the short/skirt/skort quite just yet. Adding chunky knits and light jackets seems to be my go-to as I make the transition from summer to fall. I also have this thing about overheating (similar to that of a pug) so the more layers I can pile on, the more I can take off. (I think this heavily has to do with the fact that I'm quite the fast walker. Seriously, if you saw me on the street you'd be like - where is that girl going/why does she feel the need to walk so fast/ why is she flailing her limbs like she's being attacked by a bee/ is she trying to create a new sport/ or more simply, that girl is crazy. I only have one speed and I don't feel the need to apologize for it. I will however, apologize for going off topic. Sorryz.

I also love pairing sweaters and fall jackets with summer dresses and skirts. Just because it's no longer "summer" doesn't mean you have to pack away those "summery" pieces. Add some heavier sweaters, jackets, and boots (don't forget your smile) and you'd be surprised how far you can take those clothes.

With the flux of temperatures, fall transitional dressing is tricky, and I must admit I still haven't "nailed it." So with all that said? When in doubt - layer, layer, layer. (and if you're still cold, walk fast)
